All Quiet on the Trade Front
NEW YORK, NY. July 31, 1914 - While we weren't expecting a flurry of trades this off-season, we certainly thought there would be some activity. The noon deadline has passed, and no trades have been reported to the league office.
The Chicago Orphans were the team that many fans were looking at as the team that could make a big move, but in the last few weeks they've pulled 7 and 1/12 games ahead. The club has struggled against left-handed pitching, going 11-19 so far.
In the Federal League, the Whales have a 6 game lead over the Newark Peppers which has made Charles Weeghman surprisingly content with his ball club.
