Easterly Boosts Hit Streak to 25 Games
Monday, June 1st, 2015: The number just keeps getting higher and higher. Orcas catcher Ted Easterly has now extended his hitting string to 25 games. He did it with 2 hits in the Orlando 7-3 win over the Tides at Tides Ballpark.
Easterly flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.
This season Easterly has hit at a .289 clip with 18 RBIs, 0 home runs and 27 runs scored. |

Tides Chill Easterly's Hot Streak
Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015: Orcas catcher Ted Easterly and his hot bat finally met their match today, ending his 25-game hitting string. The Tides held Easterly hitless in 4 at-bats and also whipped Orlando 4-1 at Tides Ballpark.
So far this year Easterly is hitting .283 with no home runs. |
Stewart Signs Extension With Stingers
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015: Fans hailed the signing of Dave Stewart today as the Sacramento Stingers starting pitcher came to terms with the club.
Set to make $2,330,000 over the upcoming 2 years, Stewart signed primarily out of loyalty to the organization, thrilling the most diehard supporters who think there isn't much loyalty in a market driven by free agency.
In 9 starts this season Stewart has rung up a 4-3 record and a 4.66 ERA.
Gantner Hitless, Streak Ends at 21
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015: His run was over, but a Memphis victory took some of the disappointment out of Jim Gantner losing his 21-game hitting streak. The 27-year-old second baseman did not get a hit in 5 at-bats, but the Strummers whipped the Arizona Sandmen 9-7 today at Hard Rock Stadium.
Thus far this year Gantner is batting .328 with 2 home runs, 14 RBIs and 27 runs scored.
Hunter Holds Riders Scoreless
Thursday, June 4th, 2015: At The Park at Churchill Downs today Louisville shut out the Boston Riders 9-0 on a route-going gem by Catfish Hunter. He blanked them on a 6-hitter and had 5 strikeouts in the contest.
This year Hunter has fashioned a 6-4 mark, 2.76 ERA and pitched 94.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .238 against him and he has logged 48 strikeouts.

Thursday, June 4th, 2015: Fans at Sounders Ballpark witnessed the Stingers blank the Engines behind a superb effort by Rube Marquard. The Sacramento pitcher allowed 4 hits in recording the shutout.

Javery Signs for 2 years with Orlando
Sunday, June 7th, 2015: The Orlando Orcas have finished a deal with All Star-caliber starting pitcher Al Javery that will extend his stay in Orlando
In 12 starts this season, Javery has picked up 8 wins while suffering 3 losses. He has pitched 93 innings, allowed 70 hits, struck out 48 and posted a 2.52 ERA.
Orlando-Milwaukee Trade: Johnson for Baldelli
Sunday, June 7th, 2015: It's being reported in the Orlando press that the Orcas have traded 29-year-old first baseman Nick Johnson to the Milwaukee Bangers for 27-year-old center fielder Rocco Baldelli. However, there is no confirmation by the two ball clubs.
So far this season Johnson has gotten 31 hits in 101 at-bats for a .307 batting average with 1 home run. His stats include 15 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has played in 32 games.
To date this season Baldelli is hitting .299 with 5 home runs.
Milwaukee-Boston Deal: Beaumont for Hill
Sunday, June 7th, 2015: The Bangers have reached a deal with Boston, sending 28-year-old center fielder Ginger Beaumont to the Riders in exchange for 27-year-old left fielder Pete Hill and $995,000 in cash. Reports had been hinting at a deal in recent days, but weren't confirmed until this afternoon.
To date, Beaumont has collected 41 hits for a .299 average. He has posted 5 home runs, scored 20 runs and driven in 18 runs.
This season Hill has hit at a .238 clip with 21 RBIs, 6 home runs and 29 runs scored. He has played in 51 games.
Knights-Sheriffs Trade: Fielder for Bruney
Sunday, June 7th, 2015: In an effort to add some depth to its roster, the New Orleans Knights have swapped 28-year-old first baseman Prince Fielder to the San Antonio Sheriffs for 28-year-old reliever Brian Bruney and $555,400 in cash. The Knights GM told reporters, "We saw a chance to upgrade our bullpen club and took it."
So far this season, Fielder has recorded a .291 batting average with 51 hits, 11 home runs, 27 RBIs, 28 runs scored and a .350 OBP.
So far this season Bruney has worked 4.1 innings in 5 relief appearances with 0 saves. He has dished out 2 strikeouts and walked 0 with a 0-0 mark and a 0.00 ERA.
Cougars Peavy Blanks Riders
Sunday, June 7th, 2015: Jake Peavy dominated the day, pitching shutout ball against the Riders and holding them to 5 hits. He fanned 7 and walked 2 in spinning his 6-0 win.
"I can't take all the credit for this one," Peavy said. "I had some great defense behind me."

Stone on a Hot Streak, NL Player of the Week
Monday, June 8th, 2015: George Stone is respected by most Wichita Brigade fans for his no-frills style of play. The 28-year-old left fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the Northern League Player of the Week honors.
He compiled a .625 average (15-24) with no home runs, 3 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
Stone is presently hitting at a .361 pace with no home runs, 29 RBIs and has scored 35 times.

Parker Caps Great Week
Monday, June 8th, 2015: It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Dave Parker, the Las Vegas Bosses 22-year-old right fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Southern League Player of the Week honors.
He ripped 10 hits in 24 at-bats, compiling a .417 average with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs.
So far this year Parker is batting .341 with 5 home runs, 17 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
