Player ratings vs. Real-life statistics
I'm confused about how the player ratings interact with the player's real-life stats, especially with regard to how OOTP determines the outcome of the games, i.e., the pitcher-batter confrontations, etc.
In the Game Options window, there is the AI Player Evaluation Options. I assume this basically refers to how the computer-GMs will deal with their rosters and how they will respond to trades. Is this correct, or do these weights affect how the players actually perform in the games?
In the Historical Settings window, there are several options under Player Ratings. For example, there is the Ratings Recalculation Base. What exactly is being recalculated? Is it simply the scouting report for the player, or is something happening to the player himself that will affect how he performs, and therefore also affect how the games turn out?
The next option is for Ratings to be based on Real Stats or Neutralized Stats. But again, what exactly are the "ratings?" Does my choice affect my scouting reports and how the other GMs respond to trades, or does it affect the outcome of the games?
I've read the online manual several times and I can't figure out the answers to these questions. Sorry if they are dumb questions.
Thanks for any help.
