NEWS
Racers Lose Joe Jackson
Monday, May 11th, 2015: Louisville fans will be disappointed to learn that Joe Jackson suffered a fractured wrist while making a defensive play in today's game. After the doctor informed the Louisville Racers manager that Jackson was expected to miss 4 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the right fielder could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

So far this season Jackson has gotten 37 hits in 128 at-bats for a .289 batting average with 2 home runs. His stats include 13 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has played in 31 games.

Are Engines Ready for Big Free Agent Splash?
Wednesday, May 13th, 2015: Speculation has it that Indianapolis and Joe Hoerner are trying to flesh out a contract agreement that would bring the 29-year-old reliever into the fold.

Hoerner is reportedly going to pocket $200,000 over 1 year if things pan out.

Arizona's Jones Suffers Injury
Wednesday, May 13th, 2015: Arizona center fielder Ruppert Jones left today's game with a sprained ankle. The injury will likely leave the Sandmen without Jones for about 2 weeks.

Jones is currently hitting at a .209 pace with 3 home runs and 15 RBIs.

Smith Sharp, Whitewashes Riders
Thursday, May 14th, 2015: The Tides bested the Riders 11-0 behind the 3-hit pitching of Frank Smith. The St. Louis
hurler had 3 strikeouts and 1 walk in going the distance.

This year Smith has worked 51.2 innings with 20 strikeouts en route to a 3-3 record and a 4.70 ERA.

Sanchez Holds Charlotte Scoreless
Friday, May 15th, 2015: Anibal Sanchez of the Arizona Sandmen shut out the Charlotte Cougars 8-0, held them to 2 hits with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Sanchez said, "I could throw any pitch on any count."

To date this season Sanchez has compiled a 3-2 record with a 3.86 ERA in 7 starts.

Bad News for Philadelphia, Andre Dawson Hurt
Friday, May 15th, 2015: Whether he wants it or not, Andre Dawson of the Philadelphia Ringers will be getting some R & R -- rest and relaxation. Team officials announced after the game that Dawson had suffered a knee contusion and would be out of action for 2 weeks.

Dawson's current batting average stands at .297 and he has chalked up 5 home runs and 23 RBIs.

6-Hit Game for Dougherty
Friday, May 15th, 2015: "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Patsy Dougherty after his 6-hit performance against the Tides. "No offense meant to St. Louis, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Navy Pier Field."

The Chicago left fielder had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 6 hits in 7 at-bats and pacing his club to a 5-4 victory.

His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Patsy worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."

"That's what I'm trying to do," Dougherty said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."

Dougherty tripled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, walked in the 9th, grounded out in the 11th and singled in the 14th.

For the year Dougherty is batting .293 with no home runs.

In pitching stats this season Byrd has rung up 5 wins and 2 losses in 8 games. He has an ERA of 3.48 and has fanned 45 batters in 64.2 innings.

Titus Rips Memphis for 5 Hits

The 29-year-old right fielder told the press, "It was one of those days when everything clicked for me. I made solid contact, and the ball dropped in. But we dropped the game. End of story."
