If Gibson felt that way back in the 1960's, then this is not something that Braden invented out of thin air in the 2010's. I will take A-Rod and the Yankees at their word that they have never heard of such a thing, but that does not mean the notion has no validity.

Besides, think of it this way. Picture yourself pitching in a tight situation, working your butt off on or near that mound, and Mr. Superstar walks on your turf. How would you feel about that? That's the pitcher's mound whether the pitcher is on the home team or the visitor.
It can be as simple as Braden had an instructor teach him this in little league and it stood with him forever. Where as, maybe others did not. Like I said, a guy I play poker with pitched in the minors and never heard of it. Maybe it is a throw back thing out of respect, which makes sense to me. A lot of things that use to be part of the game, are lost today.

And although guys may have never heard of it, doesn't mean it may not have been true. Again, I reiterate(I love using this word) was the disrespect A-Rod showed after. If he simply nodded or said "I apologize if it offended you, there was no intent there" he would of come across looking much better.

In real life, we all may have done something that may accidentally insult someone. But I don't think we would purposely wave it off as A-Rod did.

And just let it be noted, I did not see the way A-Rod reacted until like two days later. That was what really bothered me more then anything. I wouldn't be surprise if you see him put on his ass the next time Braden faces the Yanks.
