GM Log - 7/2/11

28-46, .378, 13 GB

This cannot go on much further. I may have forgiven him for questionable personnel decisions when I went on vacation last year, but a 28-46 record that is worst in the National League is too much for me to bear. I have decided to dispense with Jim Riggleman's services. Bench coach Nick Leyva now takes over as manager, and I'm hoping he can prove something to the fans who think his losing record as a MLB manager doesn't make him qualified.

Not only is he a stern disciplinarian, but he's got the right temperament to deal with this vet-oriented lineup that I have. It may be too much for me to demand a winning record this year from Nick, but as long as he pulls us out of the NL East cellar, I'm fine with that. This has been a very underachieving team that hasn't been too lucky with injuries, so anything better than last place would be fine for me, I believe. Dunno with Teddy...I know he has little patience for me now, following my controversial moves.
