mking, I'm pretty sure you appreciated action's help, even if his particular suggestions don't work out for you. I think an 'I appreciated your suggestions, thanks' at the end of your post would have been enough to let him know that. He did spend some time to try to give you some help.
Just like if someone holds the door open for you but it slips out of their hand you don't tell then their attempted sucked, you thank them.
