I agree with mking. It seems illogical to meet a demand and then have them say sorry no thanks. I do not think in real life people would tolerate that more than once.
My guess is that the game decided he wouldn't do the extension and just isn't aborting properly.
I would backup my game and then offer him something rediculously more than what his demand is and see if he takes it. If not I would write up a support ticket on it.
