The key is, have you moved forward even one day? As soon as you advance a day, the AI will take over and do whatever it sees fit. So, if the roster problems you mentioned above appear without even simming a day, we'll take care of them. If it's Day 2, all bets are off!
Or of course, if those players don't exist in the game or whatever...
