Round 2:

Yutaka Niida vs Yuichi Hosono - Niida came in to this bout clearly having over trained and it showed as Hosono made a fight of it from the start! Nearly every round had the fans on their feet as Hosano survived a knockdown in the 7th to score one in the 12th and then a shocking upset KO in the 14th to bump the #1 seed out of the tournament!

Keitaro Hoshino vs Genki Ohnaka - This one saw Ohnaka dominate in a good action bout, scoring a pair of knockdowns before a cut over Hoshino's eye ended things in the 10th round. Ohnaka moves forward after knocking off the #2 seeded Hoshino.

Katsunari Takayama vs Makoto Suzuki - Suzuki clearly over trained for this bout but was able to withstand a wicked onslaught early to pull out the 8-5 9-3 8-5 decision.

Junichiro Kaneda vs Satoru Abe - This was a back and forth bout between 2 boxers that saw it go down to the final round. I had it 8-7 Abe, while Will Schubert saw it 8-7 for Kaneda. The judges scored it 9-6 Abe 8-7 Kaneda and 8-7 for the winner Satoru Abe.

Satoshi Kogumazaka vs Hiroshi Nakajima - Both men had their moments, but neither went down or showed signs of having been in a fight as it went down to the wire. I had it Nakajima 8-7 while Romy Alvarez had it 7-7 a draw. It went to the judges who scored it 8-7 on all 3 cards for Nakajima.

Yasutaka Kuroki vs Shinichi Tamaki - Kuroki was building up a lead when the fighters clashed heads in the 7th round to send things to the score cards Both Rocco Del Sesto and myself had it 4-2 Tamaki at the time the fight was called. The judges scored it 4-2 Tamaki 3-3 even and 4-2 for the Technical UD for Tamaki.

Hiroshi Matsumoto vs Wolf Tomitsu - Terrific back and forth bout that had Tokimitsu seemingly with the upper hand in the 13th when a cut opened on Matsumoto's Right eyebrow to end the fight. I had it 6-6 as did our Ringside Expert Aurello Barrios. Both of us felt Matsumoto was dominating the 13th when it was ended and seemed the stronger fresher fighter. The judges had it 7-5 8-4 6-5 for Tokimitsu through 12.

Toshikazu Waga vs Keisuke Yokoyama - A great action bout that saw Yokoyama take it to Waga with a ferocious inside attack throughout. It went the distance, but Waga was battered and bleeding after the 15. Both Lee A. Crooks and I saw it 9-6 for Yokoyama with him taking 5 of the last 6 rounds to come from behind and win. The judges scored it 9-6 9-6 8-6 for the winner Yokoyama!
