Whites In a Financial Pickle?
A whale of a pennant race continues in the National League as the Chicago White Stockings lead the Boston Red Caps by 2 games as both teams are sporting the best records of the year.

On another front however the Chicago team caould be in some peril. The team is built to win now and know if they dont pull the trick this season, they can be a very diffrent team next season.

The team is hooked on a number of big contracts including those of Cap Anson, Count Sensenderfer, Johnny Quest and Al Spalding. This however means that much of the money has run out for securing some of their other stars that will be demanding more money. The services of Mike McGeary, Hugh Campbell, Cherokee Fisher, and Paul Hines are all very much in doubt as rumor has it the team is in no position to shell out anymore money.

Management was remaining focus on the current chances of the team. "We arnt worried about next year's team. We plan on winning next season"

Fans are bracing for a good finish in both leagues as in the American side Philadelphia, Baltimore and St. Louis are all seperated by 2 games. The baseball finish this season may be the best one we have seen.

League Tidbits
  • The St. Louis Browns recieved the worst possible news this month in regards to their pennant chances. Ace pitcher Bill Stearns will be shelved for the remainder of the season after painfull bonespurs were diagnosed in his elbow. Stearns had an incredible 1.70 ERA so far this season.
  • Cincinnati with 18-30 record are going to be led by another skipper. The Reds let their manager go after posting one of the worst records in league history.
