Meh, I don't know, variable divisions doesn't sound particularly good to me.

One quick way to change things up is to return to a balanced schedule. That'd give a break to the Orioles, Jays, and Rays who have to play the Red Sox and Yankees 18 times each every year. It'd also make the race for the wild card more fair.

On the negative side, a balanced schedule renders the divisions and divisional races arbitrary and meaningless.

The players are not going to agree to a longer season. If anything, they'd like to see the season shortened.
