PHILADELPHIA WORLD CHAMPIONS IN EXCELLENT SERIES

The Philadelphia Athletics comleted one of the biggest upsets in sports by unseating the two time champion Boston Red Stockings 4 games to 3 and winning their third world championship. Winnig the first three games of the series the Red Stockings may have taken the A's lightly but quickly rebouded by winning the next three. The series was decided in the first ever game seven clincher, and the A's took the game 5-2.
