Cardinals Smack Sox To Tie Series

The 1944 St. Louis Cardinals were in no moode to fall behind by two games and leave Sportsman Park without a win. They rallied behind Max Lanier to win Game 2 by a comfortable score of 9-2.

A five run 4th inning was the last scoring of the game and the big blow of the inning was a 2 run double by Danny Whtliner. Stan Musiel also drove in two and the White Sox were conceding this game.

Joe Jackson went 3-4 and the Sox did get 10 hits on the day, but Lanier used his entire arsenal and competed the second consecutive complete game for the Red Birds.

Now the Series goes to Comiskey Park, and the feeling by anyone who has seen the first two games is that this one is almost sure to go the full 5 games.
