I know the Gambo's database use a different name convention than Lahman for the player name. He use the middle name initial and all my photopack names were change to reflect that, I will do the same for this. But I don't know for the project team and it will mean that I will have to check and change the names in the database when I will get the new game again. Too bad the Lahman database or the one with the game doesn't use this convention.

The Lahman player ID could be used for the file name, correct? I know it is than harder to see who is who just by the filename, but wouldn't it make the pictures work in OOTP without error?

You can't use the LahmanID because OOTP looks for player name or player ID number.


I spent more hours than I would like to think re-doing all the OOTPX databases and the PhotoPacks to create a in sync version. Because of the disconnects, I finally stopped updating photos because it was too much effort to go thru and re-sync up names.

I believe we would need Marcus's help here as well. OOTP doesn't use vanilla Lahman. Fields are added (particularly to the master.csv. I don't know with the fielding changes whether more fields will be added. Those files are then "pre-compiled" to help loading particular seasons into an Open Database.

I guess what I am suggesting, is given the magnitude of the proposed project, could we create some synergy where could standardize on the names, update Lahman for Marcus before he adds all his data. Thus we would create photos/faces and databases that those of us looking for historical replays could utilize. Knowing that they will stay in sync as we update photos and faces. Then we would only have to worry about the annual Lahman updates.

I am more than willing to participate in such an effort (Having done this once for X).
