No, not 6 1/2, but 6½.

All standard fonts contain the ½ character (along with lots of other special characters, such as ¼, ¾, °, ©, ®, and so on). For anyone wondering, ½ is ASCI code 0189. (Hold down ALT, then type 0189 using the number pad.)
Very good eye LGO. As a web designer, I completely agree with all that you have said.

Not sure if this was covered in the thread or not, and I think it may have been, but each row also needs to be alternating cells of light and dark.
