What I'm hoping to see added to the game with Rehab starts is:
- A new player status called "Rehab" added
- Long term injuries (think six weeks or more) to have a discernible impact on a players performance when coming off the DL. Right now, any short term effects (I.E. rustiness) and rehab starts are assumed and the player simply is available to be brought off the DL. I've suggested Markus tie the D-To-D injury % into this so that a player suffering a long term injury has something like an 80% hit on their performance coming off the DL (that number based on the type of player, type and length of the injury) and gradually works back to 0% using rehab starts.
- The ability to bypass the waiver and option years rules so that players CAN legally be assigned to minor league teams to make rehab starts without having to go through waivers (and possibly be lost)
- Some rules in place so that players make no more than five minor league starts before their status is changed from Rehab and they are placed back on the active roster (or then being chosen to be formally waived and DFA). So that people don't forget about them. Any player with a status of Rehab and a DTD effect of 5% or more could, for example, return to normal status. This could always be configured via an "option" as well.

IMO that is not realistic. There aren't that many players who do rehab starts in the minors. Especially disagree with the 80% hit on performance. Even guys who have TJ surgery aren't that extreme. Some lose a lot, some very little. A lot of players do rehab at ST complexes, extra training, not necessarily in the minors. There can't be a blanket effect for all LT injured players, not realistic.
