Italy - Heavyweights - Quarter-Finals
Quarter-Finals:
Francesco Damiani vs Santo Amonti - Amonti scored a knockdown in the 2nd round, but that didn't effect Damiani's resolve as he pounded Amonti until the 12th when he scored the KO.
Primo Carnera vs Franco Cavicchi - Cavicchi was winning the fight and scored a knockdown in the 4th. Carnera came out in the 5th incensed and determined to take control and that he did landing several huge shots before the KO at 2:28 in the 5th!
Luigi Musina vs Erminio Spalla - Spalla punished Musina for 12 rounds, scoring a pair of knockdowns and opening cuts on both eyebrows. It was the one on the left eyebrow that ended the fight for the 12th round TKO!
Alfio Righetti vs Piero Tomasoni - Righetti scored the lone knockdown and outboxed Tomasoni at times but Tomasoni's accuracy with his counterpunching made the difference as he won a narrow 8-7, 8-7, 8-7 decision.
