Schmitz held the powerful Sports to two runs on seven hits and sent Dave Webb down to defeat... C Wesley Pate (.667) got the game-winning runs with a two-run homer in the third that put the Rancheros up 3-0... Z's Zap Turon Again, Win Game Two 6-1
For the second day in a row the favored hometown Turon Typhoons took it on the chin and now trail two games to none in the Elite 8 Series... Denton City's wily left-hander Mila Mohoski tamed the hard-hitting East Point Panthers 3-2 to put his Redbirds up by two games in the best-of-seven Elite 8 Series... Mohoski squelched them on just six hits, fired six strikeouts and walked only two in a fine performance on the road in Armed Forces Stadium in East Point... the 29-year-old Mohoski is now 9-2 lifetime in the postseason... Smokey Joe Carter (0-1) hurled a good game in defeat as he gave up three runs and nine hits, while walking only one and fanning five... Huxley led the Redbirds with two hits and two RBIs and Weidemeyer (.750) paced the Panthers with three hits.
