They are doing it mostly for football purposes so they can have a Big 10 Championship game which the NCAA currently has a rule that you have to have 12 teams to be awarded this.

That pretty much eliminates St, Louis, Southern Illinois or Illinois-Chicago whom Id consider having no chance in any case BUT....

Realistically, Iowa State, Pitt, Rutgers, and Missouri are the most likely candidates for different reasons.

Notre Dame has already turned them down once prior and I believe they will turn them down again.
