I hope nobody objects to me bumping this excellent thread, and I'm wondering what sorts of results people have gotten using the two different injury files on the same setting, over the course of a season or three or five. Also, Matter any updates since June 21st or is that the "finished" product?
Re: the argument back and forth, I think it's healthy, provided it doesn't get personal, and probably helps the game improve in the area of injuries. Both sides have obviously put in a ton of research and both are to be commended for their efforts.
Personally I think I'll stick with my personal edit which switched all the CEI Bools from 1s to 0s, unless someone can show me data that indicates that Matter's is clearly superior (in the eye of the beholder and all that stuff) over the other. I play historicals only, so there aren't as many players as a fictional would have and I retire according to history. My issue with CEIs has always been that Lou Gehrig (insert other players and seasons) played from 1923 through 1939 and I don't want to see him retire before 1939. If there's a 500 day injury to a player fine, so be it, but I don't like seeing players retire "before their time". Were I playing in 2009 or now 2010 and beyond, I'd probably switch to the original injury file, because I can't see into the future, but I know what happened in the past and I want to have the players around for as long as they were around.
