Basically, trading frequency increases somewhat during those meetings. So, you are more likely to receive trade proposals. Also, if you propose a trade where the AI wants to "think about it" you will get an answer more quickly -- the next day instead of two or three days later. Not a big deal, but an interesting distraction during the long off-season.
