IPA Chooses Top Twirlers For 2006
Snappers Watkins, Golden Arm Award Winner
The Golden Arm Award for 2006 has been presented and the Ruthlandian Union winner is Ernie Watkins of Rocky Rapids. Watkins excelled with an impressive 28-11 record in 39 starts. In 285 innings he yielded 256 hits and 91 walks, while striking out 201 and compiling a fine 2.52 ERA.
Blue Jays Ace TU's Best Pitcher
He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Titus Bristow performed like a veteran on the hill for the Tuckanarra Blue Jays and walked away with the Tycobbian Union Golden Arm Award in the process.
The 25-year-old Blue Jays star fashioned a 27-7 won-loss record in 2006 with a 1.73 ERA. In 327 innings of work and 39 starts, Bristow struck out 141 while giving up 281 hits and 66 walks. He held opposing batters to a .237 average.
