2006 IPA Pro Cup Series - Game Five at Silver River Stadium (The Jailhouse) in Volusia.
Turon Takes Pro Cup Lead, Tops V's 1-0
Both Turon and Volusia had their aces on the hill and it turned out to be an old-fashioned pitchers' duel. When it ended, surprisingly one of the aces won the game with his bat. Turon's James Longstreet (.318), not only hurled a 5-hit shutout against the Volusia Vigilantes, but he also homered in the seventh inning for the only run of the game. The Typhoons won game five 1-0 to take a three games to two lead in the best-of-seven IPA Pro Cup Series. Longstreet (5-2 1.47) went the distance for his fifth postseason triumph this season. He struck out five batters and issued four bases on balls. Carl Schmitz (5-2 2.59) worked seven strong innings and gave up only one run in a losing effort with three strikeouts and no walks.
The Pro Cup Series will now go back to Turon and finished out the playoffs at Typhoon Stadium. One more win will clinched the 2006 Pro Cup for the Typhoons.
