There are several things that could be done in place of--or along with--the hints. Yours is a good idea. There is also a mod created by Larry Andersen called History Hint, I believe. It uses historical info from your league in place of the standard quotes/trivia database. I did my own manipulation of the hints.txt file using data from one of my exported .csv files, which I manually converted into a usable format and now have random info about players from my league pop up as pages load.
Point is, I'd love to see additional "hints" options, like yours and/or Larry's, in the next version. I also agree that it would be cool to have some sort of "continue" button pop up once your page finishes loading so whatever you're reading doesn't just disappear on you. (I hate that! I've had to search the hints.txt file more than once to find the last part of something I was in the middle of reading when it went away!)
