Carducci Chosen RU Premier Hitter
The 2005 Ruthlandian Union Golden Bat Award has been given to 32-year-old Johnny Carducci, the hard-hitting first baseman for the San Dimas Rancheros. Carducci had a great year with a .305 batting average, 44 homers and 145 RBIs. He led the RU in RBIs and sparked the Rancheros to a second place finish in the South Division.
Middlefield third baseman Charlie Gamble was second in the balloting. The 31-year-old Gamble paced the Roosters to second place in the West Division with 51 home runs, the second highest total in IPA history. He also batted .324 with 120 RBIs.
Coming in third place in the RU Golden Bat Award voting was 34-year-old Taranto Tars left fielder Dominic Zuccaro. He put up a .329 batting average with 45 home runs and 135 runs batted in. The Tars were the runner-up in the North Division.
