Roosters Norcross Pro Cup MVP
In a blaze of glory the Middlefield Roosters captured the 2005 Pro Cup by besting the Denton City Redbirds four games to one. RF Bailey Norcross led the team to the Island championship and has been named the Most Valuable Player in the playoffs. Norcross was named on 50 ballots. 1B Allie Ludlow was the number two votegetter with 40 votes, followed by pitcher Jamie Hicks with 12 votes, pitcher Joshua Jackson 10 and reliever Delton Crawford 8. Two Denton City Redbirds received some support with SS Trevor Tomlinson named on 7 ballots and CF Paul Coniglio on 5.
Norcross hit .400 in the postseason with 8 homers, 17 RBIs and 17 runs scored. Ludlow batted .318 with 7 roundtrippers, 19 RBIs and scored 16 times. Hicks had a 3-1 record and a 3.05 ERA, Jackson was 3-2 with a 2.30 ERA and Crawford was 1-0 with two saves in six relief appearances. Crawford did not allow a run in 13 innings.
Tomlinson led Denton City with a .362 batting average, scored 20 runs, drove in 11, stole 7 bases and hit two home runs. Coniglio hit for a .348 average with 4 homers, 17 RBIs and five stolen bases.
