The previous AnkitDB didn't assign random OF positions, they would appear random. Here's an example:
Lets say you create a historical league in 1954, Hank Aaron will be a Left fielder because in the FieldingOF file, he played 105 games that year in left and 11 in right.
Now you create a historical league in 1955, Aaron will be a right fielder, he played 105 in right as per the FieldingOF file.
Create a historical league in 1962 and Aaron is now a CF because he played 83 games there and only 71 as a RF. The new career avg fielding file, has Aaron rated for all three positions because he played on average 14 games in left per season, 13 in center and 95 in right. Thus his primary position will be Right field.
There are plenty of examples and I think the new DBs help give players more accurate OF positions. Do you agree?
