The ratings will change over a player's career and talents will change as well because of how player development works in OOTP 5. The career average DB helps in that, it begins a player's career with the ratings and talents a player deserves based on his real life output and thus gives him a better chance or replicating that.

For Adjust hitters & pitchers, use adjust if: less than zero atAB, zero IP.

Do the same for make bad hitters and pitchers: lesss than zero AB, zero IP.

Set talent levels based on whole career or remaining career is a personal preference, I personally use whole career.

Make generic lefty/righty splits? Yes.
