England - Lightweight - Round 2

Round 2:

Dave Charnley vs Sailor Bourne - Charnley patiently picked Bourne apart before scoring a pair of knockdowns in the 13th, then continuing on til the end of the fight. The judges scored it 14-1, 15-0, 14-1 for Charnley.

Johnny Summers vs Michael Ayers - Summers started out fast, taking the first 3 rounds, then Ayers took over to take 4-8, including a knockdown in the 6th. In the 9th, a tired Ayers walked into a left hookd for the first of 3 knockdowns in the round, the final one for the count of 10! All 3 judges scored the bout 5-3 for Ayers.

Stanton Abbott vs David Burke - Burke used clever movement and good hand speed to nulify the power of Abbott enroute to a 12-2, 9-4, 8-6 decision.

Maurice Cullen vs Jem Carney - Carney was slow and plodding against the boxer Cullen in this one. He didn't show the capability of cutting off the ring throughout this 11-4, 12-3, 11-4 drubbing.

Graham Earl vs Billy Edwards - Toe to Toe action was the order of the day as Earl scored a pair of knockdowns early, and built up a nice lead before Edwards scored a knockdown of his own in the 10th, early enough in the round that he was able to keep the pressure on. Near the end of the round the referee had seen enough to stop it as Earl was incapable of surviving the round. Earl was ahead 7-2, 6-3, 6-3 at the time.

Colin Dunne vs Billy Thompson - Another rock em sock em battle that saw both men down. Unfortunately things were ended early when Dunne suffered a recurring cut on his right eyebrow that reopened 3 times before the fight was ended to hand Thompson the TKO on cuts in the 6th round.

Austin Gibbons vs Bobby Vanzie - Great action bout that was center ring most of the fight as Vanzie scored a pair of knockdowns in the first 10 rounds. Vanzie faded from there as Gibbons dominated the last 1/3rd of the fight with a pair of knockdowns of his own to win the decision 11-3, 9-5, 9-5.

Jack Goldswain vs Billy Schwer - Schwer scored an early knockdown but wasn't able to finish the job as Goldswain came back to score one of his own enroute to a solid 10-4, 11-3, 7-5 decision.
