I guess I can understand the frustration of certain commish's. More than likely people are going to want to upgrade which ud assume would still allow the league to function however now they have to put their league on hold until everyone is on the same page. You cant force people to not upgrade I wouldnt think otherwise you will start losing people.

It's a choice. Unfortunately, sometimes when you're faced with choices, sometimes there's a downside to either solution.
If your online league is more important to you, then don't upgrade for your solo league until your online league does. If your solo league is more important, then go on hiatus for a time until they upgrade. If you have multiple leagues, you may have to juggle.
You can try the workaround that Alan T and perhaps get the best of both worlds.
If you're in eight online leagues that are all on different versions of OOTP, there's really only so much you can expect when a patch comes around.
E-mail your commish. Tell the league to pay more attention to the non-PC users when they go upgrading.
If having to miss two weeks of an OOTP online league is the worst thing that happens to you this year, you're pretty blessed. Eventually they'll upgrade. This patch would need to have a pretty big downside to stop a league from patching eventually.
