Welcome to the midpoint of the season! Today’s action marks 50 games down and 50 to go!

Kin 3-0 Hollers – Well, the crowd of 8,679 made for quite a chorus of boos this afternoon as Piggville went down meekly before SP Cueball Smith – who is not renowned as one of the FBL’s brightest. Hey, at least Pig 1B Tuck Thompson (.376,9,33) collected a hit – it’s been a while. The only run Bumpkindale would need came in the 3rd, when LF Russ Parsons (.238,3,23) singled and Cueball hustled in from second, beating the relay from 3B Bossie Clementine. Two more were plated in the 6th, courtesy of RBI singles from RF Thumby Holt (.348,1,27) and 2B Grumpy Gil Meyer (.248,2,19). W: Cueball Smith (4-7, 4.39); L: Babe Appleby (9-3, 2.38); PoG: Cueball Smith (9IP, 3H, 0R, 5BB, 4K)

Crabs 5-2 All Stars – Harbour Bay continues to take advantage of Piggville’s stumbling streak, winning again behind a solid 9 innings from SP Pebbles Peete. Reserve Bay SS Fulsom Prizen (.367,1,4) hit his very first dinger, and Peete (.189,0,1) drove in the go-ahead run herself with a single in the 7th off Suzy Q. Perkins. For the Crabbies it was their 6th win on the trot and 8th in their last 10 contests, pulling them to within 3 games of the Hollers. W: Pebbles Peete (4-4, 3.70); L: Suzy Q Perkins (6-2, 5.42); PoG: Pebbles Peete (9IP, 7H, 2R, 0BB, 4K)

Blues 3-2 Nightmares [10 inn]
– Reserve SS Hopper Layne (.235,1,5) singled in the winning run to conclude a tight game in favor of the Villagers today at The River’s Edge (9,790). Riverbottom SP Mickey Fine struck out a season-high 10 batters through 7 innings, but was forced to retire prematurely due to arm soreness. Prior to Hopper’s stroke, all the scoring occurred in the 5th stanza – West Village getting RBI singles from Justin Thyme (.253,4,25) and C Huey McBlooey (.403,3,14), Riverbottom responding on a scoring error from SS Hopper Layne and an RBI single by SS Aggie McDaddy (.269,3,23). W: Air Boyer (1-0, 0.00); L: Corvette Colette (4-3, 3.04); S: Heck Martin (10, 2.51); PoG: WV LF Justin Thyme (3/5, 0R, 1RBI)

Bullies 3-4 Burners – 9,757 got quite the treat today as the home squad rallied dramatically in the bottom of the 9th to win. Trailing 3-1 entering their last go-round, Grimside tied matters up on an RBI double from SS/Mgr Slowey Zoe Zamm (.271,2,29) and a run-plating single from 3B Dumpy Doyle (.303,3,28). Not to be outdone, Salemwich LF Tatty Pierce (.345,1,20) came to the plate with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th and singled to score SS Dude O’Day, who bustled in from second ahead LF Little Red Rider’s desperate throw home. W: Disco Davison (2-2, 5.96); L: Betty Chan (0-1, 6.75); PoG: SAL CF Muscles Mason (.302,3,23)
