Decision: The 3 official judges, all from California had it: 39-37 Butterbean, 38-38 EVEN, and 38-38 EVEN! Jimmy Lennon Jr. announced the verdict, “This fight has been scored a DRAW!” The decision was greeted with a mixture of soft booing and polite applause.

It was assumed by both fighters that the $12 Million Dollar winner take all payday would be split. However, the contract hastily signed by Mickey Rourke and not read, included fine print at the bottom that each fighter would be paid $75,000 if the fight ended in a draw! Rourke greeted this news with a shrug of his shoulders, further confirming that for him it was never about the money. He was however, clearly disappointed to have not handed out a beating to Butterbean.

Post fight quotes:
Matt Murphy – “This is why the fight should have been made for a minimum of at least 6 rounds. I hope Mickey decides to retire. He is 40 years old and the blows can take a greater toll at that point in a fighter’s life. After every fight, regardless of it’s a win, loss, or draw, we split a bottle of “Jameson Irish Whiskey” in celebration. We have a special case that we plan to open up and enjoy after his final fight. I’m hoping that was tonight, but his career will continue until HE is ready to say it’s over. Any future fights though will be as a cruiser. Heavyweight is too much and he can no longer realistically make light heavy.”

Buttebean Manager – “We were robbed! Rourke had nothing left. He was out on his feet in round 4! We won at least 3 of the 4 rounds. This was an outrageous robbery! Come on, where is the justice! Hell yeah, Butterbean wants a rematch with this pretty boy! He also wants his $12 Million!”

The “Jameson Irish Whiskey” Matt Murphy hopes to enjoy soon with Rourke as part of his retirement.
