Mickey Rourke vs. Butterbean Finally! Perhaps the most anticipated 4 round fight in history and certainly the highest grossing was ready to begin. Both fighters locked eyes the moment they entered the ring and continued until the fights conclusion. A hush fell over the crowd during Mills Lane’s final instructions and neither fighter broke eye contact. The difference in size was grossly apparent. Although the height appeared to be roughly the same, the width was different enough to fit two Rourke’s inside of one Butterbean!

ROUND 1: “El Marielito” started by moving and managed to avoid the initials attacks of Butterbean. The first landing punch didn’t take place until 52 seconds had elapsed, when a sharp Rourke jab snaked through the gloved defense of Butterbean. What appeared to be an intentional headbutt from Butterbean drew a warning from referee Mills Lane. Not many clean punches landed by either fighter. The ones that did, mostly belonged to Rourke. (Rourke 17-6)
