Sagrada vs. Acuna
Sagrada vs. Acuna There was plenty of posing and trash talk throughout Jimmy Lennon’s introduction of the fighters. The highlight being, when Sagrada dramatically removed his mask only to have Acuna snatch it out of his hands and wear it himself! Acuna kept the mask on when he came to ring center for Mills Lane’s final instructions. Mills demanded that he remove the mask, but not before Sagrada went after Acuna and attempted to take it off.
- The fight itself was far less entertaining, as neither had the boxing skills of a professional prize fighter. There was far more wrestling and trash talking then boxing, but the fans enjoyed the matchup for the most part.
- Both put forth an honest effort and the crowd was able to recognize and appreciate this. However, truth be told, neither was even at the level of a decent amateur boxer, let alone a professional. Mills Lane was kept busy throughout separating the fighters.
- By the midway point of round 3, the crowd began to boo the horrendously bad boxing skills on display. The booing continued throughout round 4, when there was little to differentiate between the two. Both held, wrestled, walked around the ring, and sometimes just stood in front of the other doing nothing other than maybe a little trash talking.
- The final punches landed numbers slightly favored Sagrada 78-72. Ringside Expert Roy Paeth had the Los Angeles fighter, Acuna the winner 39-37.
- The 3 official judges had it: 38-38, followed by two cards of 39-37 for Acuna. The decision was greeted by applause, mostly because the fight was over.
