I was only 16 when The Bird flew into Detroit back in '76. I'm a Red Sox fan but one of my brothers is a Tigers fan. Hopefully the local (to me that is, he lived in Massachusetts and I'm from Rhode Island) kid won't suffer the injuries that ended up shortening his career.

I got a chance to watch him pitch live but it was during his last comeback attempt while he pitched for the Pawtucket Red Sox.

One question, though. Why have the recalcs off?
