Burners 3-4 Crabs – Bay C Boobsy Daniels (.318,3,16) cracked a go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the 7th, scoring SP Emma Queen, and the Crab relief corpse held on despite a last-ditch scoring single from Burner SS Dude O’Day (.214,0,5) as Harbour Bay squeaked by this afternoon. Despite 21 hits combined, only two were for extra bases – one a homer from Salemwich 3B Innocence O’Malley (.281,5,22) that knotted the game at 2-2 in the 6th. Nightmares 5-4 All Stars [12 inn] – Riverbottom LF Imogene Floyd (.305,3,17) smashed her 3rd homer of the year – a 426’ shot that just curled inside the rightfield foul pole – to hand her team the lead in the 12th, and CL Angel O’Hare continued her perfect form to seal the deal today at Big City Ballpark. Park LF Billy Metro (.377,9,29) may be slumping lately, but he did thrill the 7,964-strong crowd with his FBL-leading 9th home run – a 3-run blow that briefly established a 4-2 lead in the 3rd. Bullies 1-6 Kin – SP Lute Strummer returned to triumph after 3 straight setbacks, but was forced to leave the game in the 6th with a sore shoulder. RP Cowlick Blum was masterful the rest of the way, conceding only one hit and picking up a hard-won save. RF Thumby Holt (.337,0,18) hit an RBI double and C Priscilla Paine (.282,6,22) banged a dinger to power the offense. Kin starting pitcher LUTE STRUMMER was injured while throwing a pitch yesterday against the Grimside Bullies. It was diagnosed as a tender shoulder. He is not expected to miss too much action and will be listed as day-to-day. Team doctors said it could be as long as 1-2 weeks before Bumpkindale standout player returns to the lineup.
