April 11, 2009 - The Royals suffered their first injury of the season, but luckily for them it wasn't a major one.
Jamey Wright (0-0, 0.00 ERA) questioned if he was ready coming out of spring training, and after one batter he was taken out of the game with a sore elbow. As a precaution the Royals placed him on the 15-day disabled list and he will be ready to go right away after that.
Sidney Ponson (0-0, 3.18 ERA) will likely get a couple of starts while Wright is on the DL.

With Wright going on the DL, the Royals have called up their closer from their Triple A team,
Heath Phillips (1-0, 0.00 in AAA). Phillips will provide an extra arm in the bullpen since Ponson will be called on to start a few games.

Paul Konerko (.286, 2 HR, 3 RBI) hit a milestone last night when he went deep against the Minnesota Twins to give him his 300th career home run.
