I just took over a bad team (about 60 wins 4 seasons in a row before I took over) and won the WS in my second year. I also achieved the ultimate goal of OOTP... the perfect 100 season score. I still dont understand how that is calculated but I appreciate it none the less.

But I have won and lost playoffs and WS in the past with other versions. Seems to me that I can always figure out why and it usually has to do with pitching. Just like in MLB a team can win a series with pitching alone if they just have 2 good starters and a good closer. It has worked for me and against me a few times.
