April 15, 2009 - The Cardinals have called up AAA pitcher
Brad Thompson to the major league team and have sent down
Brian Barden to Memphis. Barden spent less than a week with the Cardinals, but with the illness of
Adam Wainwright, the Cardinals needed an extra arm in the bullpen and somebody to fill out the rotation.
Cardinals trainers informed the team that Wainwright is still going to be too ill to make his next start as it is a very severe case of the flu. So when the Cardinals make the trip to Chicago later this week it is expected Thompson will fill his slot in that game.
