Kazmarek Wins 2nd RU Bat Title with .376 Average
When it came to hitting in the Ruthlandian Union this season, none did it better than Jet Kazmarek of the Valmara Vipers. He surpassed all his peers with a .376 average to take the 2004 batting crown. This is the second time Kazmarek has taken the title. He hit an unbelievable .428 in 2002. This season the 29-year-old left fielder had 210 hits, including 45 doubles, 18 triples and 10 home runs. Kazmarek participated in 149 games and also chipped in 85 RBIs, scored 116 times and stole 80 bases.
Kazmarek is a career .369 hitter and has twice been named the Ruthlandian Union MVP. He won the award in 2002 and 2003.
High Mesa Star Captures TU Bat Crown
Rolf Kellgren of the High Mesa Cowboys was named Tycobbian Union batting champion yesterday. The 26-year-old shortstop hit .338 with 13 home runs and 69 RBIs during the 2004 campaign, collecting 198 hits in 585 at-bats and scored 123 runs, while playing in 147 games. It is the first batting title for Kellgren. The High Mesa star has a .316 lifetime batting average.
