Duke Snider of the Brooklyn Dodgers led the way in 1951 with 54 home runs. Once again the Brooklyn Dodgers set a new team record for home runs, becoming the first team ever to hit over 200 home runs, slugging 205. The Dodgers are led by the slugging trio of Snider, Roy Campanella, and Carl Furillo.
One again Bill Nicholson fell short in his quest for 400 career home runs. Needing 14 home runs, Nicholson hit half that in 1951. Hal Trosky and Ted Williams both finished the season with 430 career home runs, tied for the lead amongst active players. They are each two homers behind Bill Dickey for fifth place of all-time, and 8 behind Chuck Klein for fourth place of all-time.
