Blue Jays Wrap Up top Spot in AL East
October 3rd, 2013
The 2013 Toronto Blue Jays managed to put together their second consecutive 110+ win season posting a record of 114-48 and easily taking the American League East crown by 15 games over the 2nd place Tampa bay Rays. Their total of 114 wins is second in team history to the 115 that they managed to put up during the 2012 season. Toronto also had the best record in baseball for the second straight season with the New York Mets having the next best at 103-59.
The Jays will head into the post season missing 3 of their top players in SP Roy Halladay, MR Willie O'Macken and LF Adam Lind. All 3 players will miss the duration of the post season with various injuries. The good news for the Jays is that despite having a number of players on the Disabled List they were able to still play consistent baseball and they managed to win 10 of their last 12 games during the regular season.
Toronto will open up the 2013 American League Division Series at home at the Rogers Center as they host the AL West Champs the Oakland Athletics. The Wild Card Champ Tampa Bay Rays will visit the AL Central Champs the Detroit Tigers in the other ALDS. In the National League the San Francisco Gaints will face the New York Mets and the Milwaukee Brewers will tangle with the San Diego Padres.
