Team officials triumphantly announced that the Tigers and superstar third baseman Miguel Cabrera have closed a deal that keeps the 25-year old in a Detroit uniform for another 3 years. Cabrera will earn $37,200,000 as part of the settlement.

Injury News
Milwaukee starting pitcher Ben Sheets could miss the remainder of the season because of a strained elbow ligament while throwing a pitch. Sheets will be out at least 4 months.

Florida center fielder Steve Finley today confirmed that he will retire at the end of the season. His career numbers show Finley is batting .271 with a total of 304 home runs.
