Cervezas Drop Season Opener To Angels

The Mexico Cervezas lost their first regular season game, losing to the Anaheim Angels 4-3. Jeff Suppan pitched for Mexico, allowing three runs over six innings. Ruben Rivera hit a two run home run that tied the game at two in the fourth inning, and Jeremy Giambi followed with a home run of his own, giving the Cervezas a lead. The Angels tied the game in the fifth when Tim Salmon tripled home a run, and Jim Edmonds won it on a run scoring single in the bottom of the ninth off Dennis Martinez.
