White Sox Right Fielder Dye Hurt
"It was kinda freaky. Hopefully, I'll be back in the lineup soon," said a dejected Jermaine Dye after injuring himself in a game against Detroit. The Chicago manager told reporters, "He will miss up to 5 weeks with a fractured left foot." The White Sox are expected to announce a roster move in the next day or two. So far this season Dye is batting .294 with 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and 6 runs scored. He has 10 hits in 34 at-bats, 2 walks and a .316 OBP. Dye has played in 9 games.

Arizona's Lopez Injured, Out of Lineup
Whether he wants it or not, Felipe Lopez of the Arizona Diamondbacks will be getting some R & R -- rest and relaxation. The second baseman was hurt in today's Diamondbacks-Cardinals game while running the bases. Team officials announced after the game that Lopez had suffered a grade II right oblique strain and would be out of action for 6 weeks. Lopez's current batting average stands at .243 and he has chalked up 2 home runs and 10 RBIs.

Elijah Dukes Out of Action

fans will be disappointed to learn that Elijah Dukes suffered a fractured left foot while making a defensive play in today's game. After the doctor informed the Washington Nationals manager that Dukes was expected to miss 2 months, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the center fielder could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper. This season Dukes is hitting .185 with 5 hits, no home runs, 0 RBIs, scored 4 runs and played in 8 games.

The New York Yankees have signed LF Hideki Matsui to a 2-year contract extension worth a total of $10,400,000. So far this year Hideki is batting .385 with 0 homers and 1 RBI. He has 5 hits in 13 at bats.
