8/3: Pittsburgh CF Jimmy McAleer goes 5 for 5 with 3 RBI in an 11-7 win over Brooklyn.
8/6: Boston P Kid Nichols signed a 2-year extension @$1,690 per year.
8/25: Philadelphia trades 27-year old P Ed Conley (6 G, 19 IP, 3.32 ERA) and 24-year old P Joe Gormley (rookie) to Columbus for 31-year old LF Henry Larkin (.304, 1 HR, 22 RBI).
8/26: New York P Harry Salisbury became only the 2nd pitcher to reach the 400-win plateau as he defeated the Reds 10-4. The 36-year old has amassed a 400-297 record in 760 games. Salisbury has started an astounding 745 games in his career and struck out 2146 batters in over 6100 innings!!
8/27: Philadelphia trades 33-year old P Gus Shallix (14 G, 4.40 ERA, 3-9 WL) to Cincinnati for 30-year old RF Bob Petit (reserve). After spending 6 seasons ('84-'89) with the Reds, Shallix returns to them after a brief stint with Philadelphia.
8/29: Cincinnati trades 25-year old 2B John Pickett (.235, 5 RBI) to Chicago for 32-year old P Daisy Davis (21 G, 88.2 IP, 4.36 ERA). After winning his 200th game earlier in the year, Davis gets rewarded with a train ticket outta town.
