Things are going great for us right now! We found a way out of the rut that we were in, winning every game since the trade for Jered Weaver. Although Weaver's first start was pretty awful. In 3 innings he gave up 5 hits and 6 runs, walking 2. We still ended up winning 13-11!
Andrew McCutchen's been solid with 4 hits in 14 at-bats. He's playing tremendous defense as well. He is definitely helping us win games in the outfield.
The latest news I have is about a third baseman named Connor Gillaspie. Gillaspie was waived by the San Francisco Giants despite great play in the minors (.278 BA, 4 HR, 20 RBI, 5 SB in AA). We tried to snag him and the league just executed the claim today. The 22-year old should be a big-leaguer someday.
For the first time all year we have crept up the standings into the second spot in the NL Central. We are now 3 games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals thanks to their epic 9 game slide. We're still 5 back of Milwaukee but only 3.5 behind the Dodgers for the Wildcard lead. Things are looking up!
