Dusty Fired, Reds Begin Search
Reds Manager Dusty Baker Fired
CINCINATTI, OH -- After an abysmal 14-24 start the Cincinatti Reds have fired manager Dusty Baker. The Reds are 11 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers for the NL Central lead and do not look to be gaining any ground. The team's pitching has been awful with an ERA of 5.13, 15th in the NL. Offensively, the Reds are not too bad. Second Baseman Brandon Phillips is batting .294 with 6 HR and 20 RBI.
Bench coach Chris Speier will serve as the team's interim manager as they search for a permanent replacement.
