And, for the record, rebooting doesn't get me any closer to being able to unlicense.
Also, this particular iteration of receiving the error didn't come after (a) restarting or (b) doing anything with any kind of USB device. I had OOTP running. I closed it. I
did put the machine to sleep, but I didn't restart. And then I woke it from sleep and launched the app and got the problem.
So, perhaps sleep/wake from sleep does the same stuff as restarting? Except worse, since I can't even unlicense anymore.
